Timeline of the Mustafa murder case
The year 2025 started with various kinds of news, however, the murder of a 23-year-old Karachi resident, Mustafa Amir, has dominated the news cycle. Although a case was registered in January, it was highlighted when policemen addressed a press conference in Karachi in February.
A prime suspect and his alleged partner have been arrested. The prime suspect, identified as Armaghan, has allegedly confessed to killing the victim. Aaj News visited the house where the prime suspect lived and the car which was burnt in Balochistan’s Dureji. Later, a TV actor’s son, Sahir Hasan, was also arrested as the police investigated the illegal trade of drugs in the city.
While many people have made their opinion, experts have avoided that and called for waiting for the complete investigation report, DNA test results, and the court verdicts to make some viewpoints.

March 24,2025In the Mustafa Amir murder case, the prosecution has formally reached out to Sindh Inspector General (IG) Ghulam Nabi Memon, expressing significant concerns regarding the ongoing police investigation. Sources indicate that the prosecution has called for legal action against the investigation team, citing alleged misconduct that has compromised the integrity of the case. The letter highlights that suspects Armaghan and Shiraz are accused of brutally murdering Mustafa Amir, yet key evidence was mishandled by the investigation team.
March 22,2025 Aaj News has acquired CCTV footage of suspects Armaghan and Shiraz, which documents their return to Karachi following the alleged murder of the victim in Dureji, Balochistan. The footage reveals Armaghan and Shiraz entering an open Suzuki pickup vehicle as they made their way back to Karachi after purportedly killing Mustafa in Dureji, showing them seated inside the pickup.
The suspect Armaghan, appeared in a local court in Karachi to confess to his crime. Initially, during the proceedings at the South City Court before a judicial magistrate, he admitted to killing Mustafa Amir due to a personal dispute but later recanted his confession. The court denied his request for a 164 statement, citing concerns about his mental state.
The magistrate determined that Armaghan’s mental condition was not suitable for recording a formal confession. Although he initially expressed intent to confess, he reversed his stance in court, asserting that his actions were spontaneous and not premeditated. The court informed him that he would still face imprisonment, irrespective of his confession.
March 21, 2025: Kamran Qureshi, father of Mustafa Aamir murder case’s prime suspect Armaghan, has been arrested by the Anti-Violent Crime Cell (AVCC).
March 18, 2025: Armaghan, has recorded his confessional statement, which has been confirmed in the police remand report. According to the remand report submitted to the Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC), the accused’s recovered laptop and mobile phone have been sent to Punjab Forensic Lab for examination. The report also confirms that Armaghan confessed to the crime before SSP AVCC (Anti-Violent Crime Cell).
March 18, 2025: The victim’s mother, Wajiha Amir, has made serious revelations about the prime suspect, Armaghan. Wajiha Amir described Armaghan as highly cunning, stating that he falls silent for hours after making a single statement. She also dismissed the statement of co-accused Shiraz, calling it meaningless and a mere attempt to save himself.
March 17, 2025: A Karachi court has officially dropped the drug case against Mustafa Amir, following a statement from the Station House Officer (SHO) of the Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) Korangi.
March 17, 2025: The prime suspect in Mustafa murder case, Armaghan’s father, Kamran Qureshi, has reportedly threatened public prosecutor Zulfiqar Ali Arain.
March 15, 2025: Authorities in the Defense area of Karachi increased their scrutiny of Armaghan, the primary suspect in the Mustafa Aamir murder case, while the prosecution sought a report from the District Public Prosecutor General regarding all cases filed against him.
March 13, 2025: Armaghan confessed to threatening the lawyer handling cases against him.
March 12, 2025: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Cyber Crime Wing submitted an initial report after interrogating Armaghan, the prime suspect in the case.
The investigation into drug trafficking related to the Mustafa Amir murder case is scheduled for another review.
March 11,2025: An anti-terrorism court in Karachi extended the remand of Armaghan, the prime suspect in the Mustafa murder case, by seven days.
March 10, 2025: Special Prosecutor Zulfiqar Arain sought the inclusion of Karachi teen Mustafa Amir’s mother and father into the investigation.
March 09, 2025: SSP Investigation Shoaib Memon alleged that one of the suspects in the Mustafa murder case, Sahir Hasan, had taken drugs since the age of eight.
Further investigations into the case claimed that the accused owns two additional companies and a call centre.
March 07, 2025: Armaghan was allegedly given privileges while in custody. His uncle, Asif Jamil Qureshi, is accused of attempting to influence the case.
The National Assembly Standing Committee’s subcommittee directed law enforcement agencies to compile a report on the murder case, detailing key investigative findings and a strategic course of action.
March 04, 2025: An ATC in Karachi extended the physical remand of the prime suspect in the Mustafa murder case, Armaghan, by six days. The court sent another suspect, Shiraz, to jail on judicial remand.
March 03, 2025: Aaj News obtained a video statement from Mustafa’s friend, revealing that a financial dispute between Mustafa Amir and Armaghan had escalated before the murder.
Suspect Shiraz told the court that he was being pressured to confess.
March 02, 2025: The Federal Investigation Agency writes a letter to the Sindh police, seeking clarification on the arrest of Armaghan, the key suspect.

February 14, 2025: Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah expressed concerns over the court’s decision not to grant physical remand of the main suspect.
February 14, 2025: Sindh policemen addressed a press conference in Karachi where they claimed that his friends killed the kidnapped youth. They allegedly stuffed the body in the trunk of his car and torched it in Balochistan’s Dureji area.
Police also claimed to have arrested the prime suspect’s friend, Sheraz aka Shavez Bukhari. It was Sheraz who disclosed the information during the investigation.
But police failed to get his physical remand for interrogation and he was sent to jail custody.
February 09, 2025: Mustafa’s ‘friend’ Armaghan was arrested in connection with a kidnapping for ransom case in DHA. He had also allegedly shot at and wounded two policemen to resist his arrest.
Investigators collected a blood sample of the victim’s mother to match it with the sample found at the suspect’s house.
February 08, 2025: Police raided Armgaghan’s bungalow in DHA. They also took blood samples found on a carpet in a room.
Two weeks later, the family received a ransom call. Suspects demanded Rs20 million from the Mustafa’s family.
January 12, 2025: The Balochistan Police recovered a charred body in a torched car. It was handed over to the Edhi Foundation.
January 6, 2025: Mustafa Amir, a Karachi’s Defence area resident, went missing. He was allegedly kidnapped.
