The new horror movie “Sijjin” has caused controversy among some netizens due to its promotional tactic and movie plot.

The movie’s marketing team staged a ritual at a cinema in Malaysia, which involved actors dressed in prayer garments chanting in front of a “dead” body. Many netizens found this to be in poor taste and disrespectful to their Islamic beliefs.

In response to the backlash, the National Film Development Corporation Malaysia (FINAS) has instructed Golden Screen Cinemas (GSC) to replace the movie poster, which featured Arabic verses on a black cloth around a possessed woman 2.

The order was issued after it was discovered that the Throne Verse of the “Ayatul Kursi” was shown on a black cloth that was around a purportedly possessed woman in the earlier official poster.

The horror movie “Sijjin” was released on December 28. The movie is directed by Indonesian director Hadrah Daeng Ratu and produced by Rapi Films. It stars Ibrahim Risyad, Anggika Bölsterli, and Niken Anjani .

The movie is a remake of the Turkish horror movie “Siccîn” released in 2014.

The plot revolves around a young woman named Irma who falls in love with her cousin Galang, who is already married.

Irma becomes obsessed with Galang and seeks the help of a shaman to send black magic to Galang’s wife. This leads to a series of supernatural disturbances, possessions, and deaths in Galang’s house. However, Irma soon realizes that she has become a target of the same threat.

The movie plot itself received some backlash in Indonesia and Malaysia as the movie portrayed black magic and in some Islamic culture segments, it is prohibited to promote or watch such evil activities.
