Pakistan hosts successful overseas convention, focuses on investment opportunities

The two-day Overseas Pakistanis Convention drew to a close today in Islamabad, featuring key addresses from Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif and Army Chief General Asim Munir.

More than 1,500 overseas Pakistanis from around the world participated in the event, which recognized them with the status of state guests.

The convention focused on addressing key issues faced by the overseas community, such as remittances, investment opportunities, and government services. Attendees received updates on investment options and available facilities in Pakistan, with various sessions arranged to collect their feedback and concerns.

The event kicked off yesterday with the recitation of the Holy Quran, performances of the national anthem, and spirited chants of “Pakistan Zindabad.”

Distinguished guests included Speaker of the National Assembly Ayaz Sadiq, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Faisal Karim Kundi, federal ministers, Pakistani ambassadors from abroad, and notable figures from diverse sectors.

In his opening remarks, Speaker Ayaz Sadiq emphasized the possibility of discussing issues related to dual citizenship and elections, encouraging overseas Pakistanis to highlight these topics through their political parties to stimulate legislative progress.

Said Qamar Raza, Chairman of the Overseas Pakistanis Foundation, revealed that the Prime Minister is expected to announce a special package for overseas Pakistanis during the convention, designed to enhance their facilities and support.

The convention also recognized the vital contributions of overseas Pakistanis to the national economy, with the government assuring attendees that it is committed to addressing their concerns.
