The federal capital is currently hosting the inaugural Overseas Pakistanis Convention at the Convention Centre, drawing more than 1,500 participants from over 80 countries.

The two-day event, which began with a ceremonial recitation of the Holy Quran, the national anthem, and spirited chants of “Pakistan Zindabad,” aims to honor the contributions of overseas Pakistanis and strengthen their engagement with national development.

Dignitaries including National Assembly Speaker Ayaz Sadiq, Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Faisal Karim Kundi, federal ministers, Pakistani diplomats posted abroad, and key figures from various sectors are participating in the convention. Attendees have been accorded the status of state guests.

In his inaugural address, Chairman of the Overseas Pakistanis Foundation Syed Qamar Raza revealed that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is expected to announce a special package for overseas Pakistanis during his keynote speech.

The event also includes formal dinners hosted by Chief of Army Staff General Asim Munir tonight and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif tomorrow, with both leaders scheduled to address the convention on the second day.

The convention not only celebrates the significant role overseas Pakistanis play in Pakistan’s economy through remittances and investments but also provides a platform for them to voice their concerns and share proposals with policymakers.
