ATC announces 10 years of imprisonment for JuD chief Hafiz Saeed
1 min readAn anti-terrorism court (ATC) in Lahore on Thursday announced a verdict against the leader of the outlawed Jamaat-ud-Dawa (JuD) Hafiz Saeed in an illegal funding case. The ATC sentenced the JuD chief to 10 years and six months of imprisonment.
The court has also fined Saeed a hefty amount of Rs110,000 and directed the authorities to confiscate his properties.
Two other JuD leaders and Saeed's close friends Zafar Iqbal and Yahya Mujahid were sentenced last week to 16 years of imprisonment while his brother-in-law Hafiz Abdul Rehman was also sentenced to six months of imprisonment.
Earlier this year, in February, Saeed was also convicted in two separate cases for "being part of a banned terrorist outfit" and for "owning illegal properties". He was sentenced to spend five years and six months in a prison cell.
Saeed was arrested in July last year by the authorities as a part of the Government of Pakistan’s crackdown against outlawed organizations under the National Action Plan.
