You got higher electricity bills in July because of June surcharge

Fuel surcharge abolished for people using under 200 units

KARACHI: Pakistanis have received higher electricity bills in July as the fuel surcharge for June was added on, Federal Minister for Energy Engineer Khurram Dastagir Khan said on Wednesday.

At a news conference at the head office of K-Electric, the minister said that while people had used less electricity in July compared to June, this was why they are looking at higher bills.

So, the fuel surcharge added to July bills has been abolished for people who use below 200 units. If people have already paid the higher amount they will see an adjustment in their bills next month. People who have not paid would get revised bills. The fuel surcharge for agricultural consumers or farmers has been abolished.

A fixed tax imposed on commercial meters would also be done away with from October.
