No-trust move not an easy task, shakes foundations of country: Sheikh Rashid
Interior Minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmed on Wednesday said that no-confidence motion is not an easy task as it shakes the foundations of the country.
Talking to media in Islamabad, Rashid said that the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) should reconsider their long march scheduled on March 23 as Pakistan Day celebrations will be underway adding that a fleet of 25 J17C planes would have a “fly-past” on March 23 and that there would be a “historic parade” on March 22 and 23.
Relief package
The interior minister said that government, in its 3.5 years, announced a package for everyone and for the first time petrol price was decreased in order to provide relief to public.
“Now, the prices of oil and sugar should also be lowered,” he said.
PPP long march
Speaking about PPP's long march, the minister said that the long march will be allowed to reach Islamabad as PPP has spent billions on it. But it would be better if opposition alliance PDM changes date of its long march from March 23. the minister added.
Foreign policy
Rashid said that Pakistan is moving towards a neutral foreign policy under the leadership of Imran Khan.
He stated that the country should aim to organise itself further on matters of foreign relations.
Civil defence
Rashid said that we have seen the performance of Civil Defense in the October 8 earthquake, Ojri camp and the 1965 war, adding that no disaster comes knocking at the door.
He further said that we should be ready at all times to deal with war, natural calamities and other challenges. He said that youth of country should be aware about civil defence and for this purpose introductory programs will be held in all provincial capitals. "Civil defence officials are needed to be equipped with modern technology," the minister remarked.
