PM, COAS have completed consultation on appointing new DG ISI: Fawad
Minister for Information and Broadcasting Chaudhry Fawad Hussain said the consultation process on the appointment of new director general Inter-Services Intelligence between the prime minister and Chief of Army Staff has been completed.
"The process of appointment has been started," said the federal minister in a tweet on Wednesday. However, he did not elaborate if that meant a new notification will be issued, as is widely speculated.
He further said the civil and military leadership have proved that all institutions of the country are united for progress and stability of Pakistan.
The country has been gripped with speculations about the delay in notification of the new DG ISI which is meant to be issued by the Prime Minister House. However, the ISPR issued a press release on October 6 notifying the appointment of new spy chief along with other postings.
After consultation with top military leadership, Pakistan Army appointed Lt General Faiz Hameed as the new Corps Commander Peshawar and Lt Gen Nadeem Ahmed Anjum appointed as DG ISI.
PTI's chief whip in the National Assembly Amir Dogar said on Tuesday the prime minister wanted Lt-Gen Faiz Hameed to serve for a few more months in an interview to Samaa tv.
