Gas crisis deepens in Sindh as RLNG supply halts; LPG prices surge
1 min readA worsening gas crisis has gripped Karachi and other parts of Sindh, as a severe shortfall in the Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) system has led to a complete suspension of RLNG supply, sources said.
The disruption has directly impacted domestic consumers, with gas now available only during three fixed time slots. In Karachi, residents are receiving gas for just around 10 hours a day, causing significant difficulties in preparing meals, particularly during breakfast and dinner hours.
Officials say the suspension of RLNG has increased pressure on the existing gas network, further reducing supply levels across the province.
The shortage has also triggered a sharp rise in liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) prices. Retailers have reportedly increased rates arbitrarily, with prices climbing to between Rs460 and Rs480 per kilogram. Citizens have urged authorities to immediately address gas load-shedding and take notice of profiteering in the LPG market.
