Muhammad Zubair: Imran Khan still blamed for terrorism even after three years
Former Sindh Governor Muhammad Zubair has criticised the government for continuing to blame Imran Khan for terrorism, even three years after his departure from office.
“If you are still saying Imran Khan is responsible for everything, it means you have failed,” Zubair remarked.
“Whatever needs to be done now, you must do it as the government.”
Speaking on Aaj TV’s programme “Rubaroo” with host Shaukat Paracha, Zubair questioned whether any substantial discussion on terrorism in Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa had taken place in Parliament.

“At the very least, inform your own members about what is happening. Who are we fighting? What are our targets? How many have we achieved? Even Mian Nawaz Sharif has remained silent on this crucial issue,” he pointed out.
Zubair, who previously served as the spokesperson for Nawaz Sharif, also commented on Pakistan-India relations, stating, “If I were close to Nawaz Sharif, I would tell him that cricket between Pakistan and India is not just about sports, but politics. He should speak to [Indian Prime Minister] Modi and assure him that we are ready to provide all guarantees necessary to bring the Indian cricket team to Pakistan.”
He stressed that only two things can unite Pakistan: cricket and democracy.
“Unfortunately, we have mishandled both,” he said, urging authorities to raise Pakistan’s cricketing issues at the highest political level.
Commenting on the recent joint parliamentary session, Zubair opposed the disruptive protests during the president’s address.
“All political parties should listen quietly. Surrounding the speaker and tearing agenda copies is not the right approach. What does the opposition gain from this?” he asked.
Meanwhile, senior analyst Hafeezullah Khan Niazi noted that despite political differences, the government and PTI fully cooperated during the 26th constitutional amendment process.
“They were all on board. Not voting or tearing agenda copies is another matter,” he said, adding, “I will not blame the government for my son’s ten-year prison sentence.”
