Former Governor Sindh Muhammad Zubair, has expressed deep concern over Pakistan’s economic and security situation, stating that the country is on a downward trajectory since the current government took charge.

Speaking on Aaj TV’s programme “Rubaroo” with host Shaukat Paracha, Zubair criticised the government’s economic policies, warning that if China, the UAE, and Saudi Arabia withdrew their financial support, Pakistan could default within a week.

He dismissed claims of economic progress, asserting that this parliament lacks a legitimate mandate.

Referring to Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, he described the ongoing situation as catastrophic, citing the frequency of bomb blasts and the loss of security personnel in terrorist attacks.

Zubair also criticised the government’s reliance on the IMF, highlighting that this is Pakistan’s 25th IMF programme, yet each time, authorities claim it will be the last.

He urged economic experts to assess the true state of Pakistan’s financial health.

Discussing political stability, he remarked that the government faces no real opposition pressure, as PTI no longer holds the same street power or institutional backing as before.

However, he warned that Pakistan’s middle class is struggling due to declining purchasing power, calling for immediate measures to restore economic stability.

On security concerns, Zubair emphasised the need for a unified approach to combat terrorism, urging collective efforts to resolve the crisis in Balochistan and KP, where security forces are continuously targeted.
