Senior leader of Muttahida Qaumi Movement Pakistan (MQM-P), Dr Farooq Sattar, has claimed to have successfully worked towards reducing electricity bills, urging authorities not to damage Karachi’s economy further.

He said that if Karachi thrives, so does Pakistan. He also expressed concerns over rising crime rates, alleging that after a decline in street crimes, the truck and dumper driver mafia has started operating unchecked.

During his visit to the residence of Sohaib, a young man killed by robbers in Korangi, Dr Farooq Sattar met with the victim’s family and offered condolences. He demanded immediate arrest and strict punishment from those responsible.

Criticising the law enforcement agencies, the MQM leader questioned their performance, stating that if the Sindh government and administration cannot ensure Karachi’s security, they should make it clear so that the people can take matters into their own hands.

Dr Farooq Sattar announced that MQM-P will unveil a strict action plan regarding Karachi’s situation after Eid al-Fitr. He also invited Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to visit Karachi to address the city’s issues.

Speaking to the media, he acknowledged that crimes occur in major cities, but the lawlessness seen in Karachi is unparalleled globally.

“Is Karachi not part of Sindh? Is it not part of Pakistan? Are we not Pakistanis?” he questioned.

He emphasised that MQM-P will continue its struggle for the city’s rights and warned that if Karachi’s demands are not met, then neither the Rangers nor the police would be of any use.

“Let this message reach Rawalpindi, Islamabad, Larkana and Nawabshah — MQM-P will announce its future course of action after Eid,” he asserted.
