Karachi: Eviction operation turns violent in Mauripur, clashes erupt
A violent clash erupted in Mauripur as Karachi Port Trust (KPT) authorities, backed by police and Rangers, launched an operation to clear the decades-old Kakka Peer settlement.
During the operation, police resorted to baton charges and aerial firing, leaving several people injured.
Many protesters were also arrested as they resisted eviction, refusing to leave the settlement.
Protesters strongly opposed the clearance drive, vowing not to vacate the area under any circumstances.

Meanwhile, KPT officials maintained that the land had been under illegal occupation for decades and must be reclaimed.
Tensions remain high in Mauripur’s Younusabad area following the operation, with a heavy deployment of police and Rangers to maintain order.
