Electricity tariff increase of over Rs5 finalized to secure IMF loan
Pakistan informs IMF of its compliance with all preconditions, while the government finalizes an increase of over Rs. 5 in the base electricity tariff.
Pakistan has been informed that the IMF of its compliance with the conditions, to which the IMF expressed satisfaction with Pakistan’s actions.
The Ministry of Finance and IMF held virtual talks, with progress on the new loan program expected by the third week of July.
Furthermore, in the Ministry of Finance, a briefing was held on the post-budget practical measures, and the IMF was informed about the changes made in gas prices from July 1.
The IMF officials praised the successful completion of the process from budget approval to implementation, and there was also discussion on the IMF delegation’s visit to Pakistan for the new loan program.
