Karachi residents attack K-Electric office in fury over bills

Police have also confirmed that several individuals have been arrested

Residents of Liaquatabad, Karachi, have taken to the streets in anger over prolonged and unannounced power outages, culminating in an attack on a K-Electric office. The incident, which occurred in the FC Area of Liaquatabad, saw protestors vandalizing the office and damaging several parked vehicles.

The frustration over the lack of electricity has reached a boiling point, with residents feeling neglected and unheard. The protest, which spilled onto the main road near Shafiq Mor, resulted in a traffic jam.

K-Electric, the city’s power provider, has condemned the attack and the damage to their property. A spokesperson for the company stated that they are taking the matter seriously and are investigating the incident.

The unrest has led to the filing of a case against the protestors. Police have confirmed that a case has been registered against the individuals involved in the vandalism and rioting, with charges including public disturbance and property damage.

Police have also confirmed that several individuals have been arrested in connection with the incident. They are currently conducting raids to identify and apprehend other individuals seen in video footage of the attack.

The incident has sparked further protests, with residents of the FC Area gathering outside the Sharifabad police station. They are protesting the arrests and demanding action against K-Electric for the ongoing power outages.
