Saudi Arabia’s Energy Ministry said a fire at the Saudi Aramco refinery in Jazan was brought under control on Sunday, with no fatalities or injuries reported, as separate reports emerged of an explosion and fire at gas facilities in the industrial city of Jubail.

The ministry said Aramco’s industrial firefighting teams extinguished the blaze at the 400,000-barrel-per-day Jazan refinery, but did not disclose its cause.

Meanwhile, Israeli media reported that the Houthi militia is behind the attack on a gas facility in Saudi Arabia’s Jubail region.

According to Israel’s Channel 14, the Houthis had struck a Saudi Aramco gas plant in Al Jubail.

The claims came after reports of a loud explosion in the Jubail region.

The Jazan refinery, located on the Red Sea near the Yemeni border, has been targeted by Yemen’s Houthi group in recent weeks.

Regional sources had earlier reported that Saudi Aramco facilities in Jazan were targeted, although it was not immediately clear whether Sunday’s fire was linked to an attack.

Separately, Arab media reported a loud explosion in the Jubail region, with reports of a fire at gas facilities in Jubail Industrial City.

The cause of the blast and details of any casualties or damage remained unclear.

The Jazan refinery was shut on July 27 after an attack that damaged its Integrated Gasification Combined Cycle complex and tank farm.

The Houthis claimed at the time that they had targeted Aramco facilities in Jazan and Yanbu.

Aramco chief executive Amin Nasser said last week that the company’s production, exports and domestic fuel supplies remained intact despite reported attacks on its facilities, including Jazan.
