UAE could penalise Usman Khan for joining Pakistan team: reports
Cricketer Usman Khan is in hot waters with the Emirati Cricket Board over a potenital breach of his contract.
Khan, who made headlines after a high scoring season in the Pakistan Super League, has been called up for the Pakistan team’s training camp.
However, cricketing website ESPONCricinfo recently reported that the ECB is looking into whether his play for Pakistan constitutes a breach of his contract.
The board will also review possible breaches of contract over his involvement in other cricket leagues in the UAE, including the T10.
If the breach is proved, Khan could be banned from league cricket in the UAE.
However, the punishment could be much more severe and could end up impacting Usman Khan’s work permit. He still has 14 months to go before he becomes a resident.
Khan had earlier praised the benefits of playing as a UAE player, particulalry in being able to participate in global leagues.
The blazing batsman is eyeing the prospect of playing for Pakistan in the next edition of the T20 World Cup .
The Pakistan team is currently undergoing a training camp under the army in Kakul.
