Former Pakistani fast bowler Farooq Hamid passes away at 80
The former Pakistani fast bowler, Farooq Hamid, has passed away at the age of 80.
Hamid had been suffering from health issues before his death.
He represented Pakistan in one Test match and played in 43 first-class matches during his cricketing career.
His contributions to the sport will be remembered by fans and players alike.
He played internationally for a brief period in 1964. During his career, he participated in one Test match, where he scored three runs and took one wicket, with best bowling figures of 1/82.
In first-class cricket, Hamid played 43 matches, scoring a total of 546 runs with a highest score of 38.
He took 111 wickets in first-class matches, achieving best bowling figures of 7/16. His bowling average was 25.21, and he maintained an economy rate of 3.29.
Hamid also represented teams such as Lahore and Pakistan International Airlines.
In 2020, he stated that he left cricket in 1969 at the age of 25 in utter disappointment due to dirty politics.
