Pakistan’s bowling disaster: Team sets inglorious record in ODI
Pakistan’s bowlers registered another unwanted record in the first ODI against New Zealand by conceding a staggering 43 extra runs.
According to sources, Pakistan’s bowlers gave away 21 wides and two no-balls. Additionally, they conceded seven byes and 13 leg byes, making it the third-highest number of extras given by Pakistan in an ODI innings.
This performance has raised serious questions about the team’s discipline and consistency. The high number of extras significantly contributed to New Zealand’s imposing total, placing immense pressure on Pakistan’s batting line up.
Pakistan’s record for the most extras in an ODI came in 1999 against the same opposition in Manchester, where they conceded 47 extras. In 1990 against Sri Lanka in Sharjah and in 2003 against New Zealand in Dambulla, Pakistan gave away 44 extras in each match.
