Maryam rejects AJK results, plans protests
After placing third in Sunday's elections in Azad Jammu and Kashmir, PML-N vice president Maryam Nawaz repeated her claims of rigging and said she refuses to accept the results.
PTI emerged victorious with 25 seats in the AJK Legislative Assembly followed by PPP with 11 and PML-N with 6.
In her tweet, she said she refused the results of the 2018 elections and rejects Sunday's results too, saying the PTI used its influence to rig the results. She also said the party is mulling a new strategy to address this issue.
While accusing the PTI for sending staff from Punjab to rig the elections, PML-N Punjab Information Secretary Azma Bokhari has accused Sardar Tanveer Ilyas for playing a role in the rigging. Ilyas is an assistant to Punjab Chief Minister and Bokhari believes he used his position to ensure votes were cast in the PTI's favor.
She also said the party was considering moving the courts and planning protests to challenge these results.
The party spokesperson Marriyum Aurangzeb also raised concerns about rigging, saying it was a repeat of the 2018 elections.
