Big B to stay away from IIFA awards
Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan has decided to stay away from International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) awards to be held at Toronto in June, after being dropped as the organization's brand ambassador.
"Not coming to Toronto IIFA ... IIFA says my services are not required," tweeted Big B.
In fact, the entire Bachchan family, including Jaya, Abhishek, Aishwarya and Big B himself, has decided to boycott the awards.
"We are not coming to IIFA," read another tweet from Big B.
The decision to terminate Bachchan's contract with IIFA came after the actor, despite being the face of IIFA, gave it a miss last year after a Southern film body threatened to boycott northern stars attending ceremony in Sri Lankan capital Colombo over the Tamil issue.
However, Bachchan has managed to gather 'sympathy' of his followers, who are showing their discontent at his removal.
"@SrBachchan WAT? u not at IIFA?? wats iifa without u???where can i contact those IDIOTS(iifa organisers) please," tweeted one of his followers called Praveen Kumar.Meanwhile, IIFA said it will not appoint a new brand ambassador at the moment.
