Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck’s marriage has officially come to an end, as confirmed by court documents obtained by PEOPLE magazine.

The divorce judgment was finalised 20 weeks after Lopez filed on August 20, 2024, citing irreconcilable differences.

The couple, who reignited their romance in 2021, tied the knot in a small Las Vegas ceremony in July 2022, followed by a larger celebration in Georgia the following month.

Lopez’s filing marks exactly two years since their wedding in Georgia, with April 26 noted as the date of separation. The split has garnered significant media attention, given their status as beloved Hollywood figures.

In her filing at the Los Angeles County Superior Court, the Anaconda actor opted not to hire a lawyer. She requested that neither party receive spousal support, indicating that shared assets and obligations would be addressed at a later time. She sought to legally revert her name back to Jennifer Lynn Lopez.

Speculation regarding tensions in the celebrity couple’s marriage began in May 2024, as the couple was rarely seen together. While Lopez promoted her film Atlas and attended the Met Gala alone, Affleck was busy filming The Accountant 2 in Los Angeles.

Although they had some family gatherings and public appearances together, they largely spent the summer apart. Sources close to Lopez revealed that she initially hoped to resolve their issues but ultimately realised the relationship was beyond repair.

Since the divorce, Lopez has spoken about embracing her independence, stating that she is “capable of joy all by myself.”

She made her first public appearance post-divorce at the Toronto International Film Festival, while Affleck has continued to concentrate on his production projects. Despite their separation, the former couple, who both have children from previous relationships, seem to be maintaining an amicable rapport.
