Dabangg Rules At Apsara Awards Night This Year

Salman Khan starrer Dabangg continues its success journey in 2011 also as it bagged total eight awards in different categories of the Chevrolet Apsara Awards, which was held last night.
The glitzy night had some sizzling performances by Priyanka Chopra, Anushka Sharma, Shah Rukh Khan, Govinda and many others. Several Bollywood celebrities like veteran Dharmendra, Amitabh Bachchan, Akshay Kumar, Yash Chopra, Rani Mukerji, Karan Johar, Katrina Kaif, Sunny Deol, Aishwarya Rai Bahchcan and Arjun Rampal graced the event.

Dabangg star Salman Khan bagged the 'Best Actor Award' for his Chulbul Pandey act and his heroine Sonakshi Sinha won the 'Best female debut' award. Singer Mamta Sharma was awarded the 'Best female singer', which she shared with 'Sheila Ki Jawani' singer Sunidhi Chauhan. Sonu Sood was honoured with the 'Best performance in a negative role' for his character in Dabangg. The music directors Sajid-Wajid also bagged the 'Best music' for this movie. Rahat Fateh Ali Khan got the 'Best male singer' award for crooning the number 'Tere mast mast do nain' in Dabangg. It also got the 'Best dialogue' award, which was taken by Abhinav Kashayp. Farah Khan got award for 'Best choreography' in 'Munni Badnam'.

Band Baaja Baraat followed the ranking after Dabangg by winning total six awards. It got honoured for the best art director, best editing, best costume design, best debut director and best actress (Anushka Sharma). Anushka shared the award with Vidya Balan for her role in Ishqiya. Ranvir Singh got the Best male debut award for his role in Band Baaja Baraat.

Karan Johar bagged the 'Best director' award for My Name Is Khan. However, Dabangg was the ruler at Apsara Awards this year.
