Tight security measures have been taken for the main 9th Muharram procession in Karachi, which will be taken out from Nishtar Park at 1pm.

After an address by Allama Shahenshah Hussain Naqvi at Nishtar Park, the main procession will be taken out from Nishtar Park under the leadership of Pak Haideri Scouts.

The procession will start from Nishtar Park and proceed via Shah Nawaz Bhutto Road, M.A. Jinnah Road and Numaish Chowrangi.

During the procession, participants will offer Zuhrain prayers in front of Imambargah Ali Raza.

The procession will then continue along its traditional route before concluding at Hussainia Iranian Imambargah in Kharadar.

According to a Karachi Police spokesperson, foolproof security arrangements have been put in place for the procession.

More than 5,000 police officers and personnel have been deployed, while Rangers personnel will also perform security duties.

Additional traffic police officers will be stationed to ensure smooth traffic flow.

As part of the security measures, all streets and roads connected to the procession route have been sealed with containers.

Markets and shops located along the route will also remain closed for three days.

Police said trained security personnel equipped with binoculars and modern weapons have been deployed on high-rise buildings situated along the procession route.

In addition, the Bomb Disposal Squad will clear the route before it is handed over to the procession organisers.
