Pakistan, Libya agree to deepen military cooperation during GHQ meeting
1 min readLieutenant General Saddam Khalifa Haftar, Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Libyan Arab Armed Forces, called on Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir at the General Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi, where both sides discussed regional security, defence cooperation and ways to strengthen military-to-military relations.
Upon his arrival at GHQ, the Libyan military leader was presented a guard of honour by a smartly turned-out tri-services contingent.
During the meeting, the two sides exchanged views on matters of mutual interest, evolving regional security dynamics and avenues for enhanced defence collaboration.
They underscored the importance of further strengthening bilateral defence ties and expanding cooperation in the fields of professional military training and security.
Field Marshal Asim Munir reaffirmed the Pakistan Army’s commitment to promoting peace, stability and constructive engagement with friendly countries.
He highlighted the importance of fostering stronger partnerships to address shared security challenges and enhance regional stability.
The Libyan delegation appreciated the professionalism and operational capabilities of Pakistan’s armed forces. Lieutenant General Haftar also acknowledged the military’s contributions to regional peace and security.
