Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi arrived in Tehran for the second time in less than a week on Wednesday, holding meetings with Iran’s civil and military leadership as Pakistan steps up its role as a mediator between Tehran and Washington.

Naqvi met IRGC Commander-in-Chief General Ahmad Vahidi, discussing regional security and matters of mutual interest. He also held talks with Iranian Interior Minister Eskandar Momeni.

Pakistan is actively working to facilitate a second round of US-Iran negotiations, according to Iran’s Tasnim news agency.

Islamabad hosted earlier talks between the two sides and has been engaged in behind-the-scenes diplomacy to reduce tensions.

During his previous visit, Naqvi held a 90-minute meeting with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, covering bilateral relations, regional developments, and diplomatic affairs.

He also met Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi and Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf.

No formal agenda has been released for the current visit. Analysts say the frequency of Naqvi’s trips to Tehran reflects the pace at which back-channel diplomacy is moving in the region.
