Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Wednesday declared May 26 to 28 as public holidays for Eid-ul-Azha, following the official sighting of the Zul-Hijjah moon in Pakistan.

The Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee, chaired by Maulana Abdul Khabir Azad, met at the Met Office in Karachi on May 17.

Members of central and zonal committees, along with officials from the Meteorological Department and SUPARCO, attended.

The committee confirmed the sighting and announced Eid-ul-Azha for May 27.

Pakistan’s announcement aligns with several other Muslim-majority countries.
