President Asif Ali Zardari on Monday chaired a high-level meeting to review the country’s overall security situation, economic outlook, and the rapidly evolving regional landscape, officials said.

The meeting at Aiwan-e-Sadr was attended by Shehbaz Sharif, Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, Pakistan Peoples Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, National Security Adviser Asim Malik, and all four provincial chief ministers, along with senior officials.

Participants held detailed discussions on national security, assessing the changing regional environment and its potential implications for Pakistan. The leadership also reviewed key economic, energy, and security challenges facing the country.

Officials said there was a strong emphasis on developing a coordinated national strategy, with consensus-building and institutional harmony identified as critical to addressing the multifaceted challenges.

The meeting also discussed proposals shared by the federal government, with provinces expected to submit their input before a final policy framework is formulated.

Chief ministers presented provincial plans related to austerity measures, with key decisions on cost-cutting initiatives anticipated.

This meeting followed a high-level consultative meeting chaired by President Asif Ali Zardari at Aiwan-e-Sadr last week, which was also attended by Chief of Defence Forces and Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir and federal ministers.

According to officials, the leadership has agreed that economic management, energy planning, food security, and broader security considerations must remain closely aligned to effectively respond to current challenges.

The meeting concluded with participants reaffirming the need for a unified policy approach to safeguard Pakistan’s security and economic stability amid regional uncertainties.
