Naseem Shah fined Rs20m over violation of PCB’s central contract
1 min readThe Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) fined cricketer Naseem Shah Rs20 million for breaching the terms of his central contract, the PCB said on Monday.
A show-cause notice was issued to the player on March 27, after which a three-member disciplinary committee conducted a hearing into the matter.
The PCB said the committee took note of Naseem Shah’s unconditional apology but found that he had violated several clauses of the central contract, including provisions related to social media guidelines.
A post was made from Naseem Shah’s X account about the arrival of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz at Gaddafi Stadium on Friday.
‘Why is she being given protocol like a queen?’, the post said.
Later, this post was deleted after some time, and Naseem Shah also explained that his X account had been hacked. However, Naseem Shah’s related statement has created a stir in cricket circles.
In a related action, PCB blacklisted Naseem Shah’s social media advisor. The individual will no longer be permitted to work with any player contracted by the PCB.
The PCB said the decision reflects its commitment to maintaining professional standards.
