Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has urged citizens to stop using plastic, stressing the need for collective action to tackle waste and protect the environment.

In her message on International Day of Zero Waste, the Punjab chief minister said reducing waste, promoting recycling, and adopting sustainable consumption are key to ensuring a cleaner future.

She said all cities in Punjab are being transformed into “zero waste” zones under the Suthra Punjab programme, with efforts underway to convert garbage dumps into green forests and solar parks.

CM Maryam highlighted several initiatives, including a ban on plastic bags, the introduction of super seeders for farmers, electric vehicles, and waste-to-value projects aimed at improving environmental sustainability.

She stressed that protecting the planet from pollution is a shared responsibility and called on citizens to play their role in reducing environmental degradation.
