A gas leak triggered a powerful explosion in the Nawan Killi Labour Colony area of Quetta, killing a couple and their two children, officials said on Friday.

The blast occurred inside a residential house after gas accumulated due to a leakage, causing the structure to collapse partially.

All four occupants — a husband, wife and their two children — died on the spot.

Rescue teams and police rushed to the scene and recovered the bodies from the debris, which were later shifted to the hospital for legal formalities.

Authorities said an investigation was underway to determine the exact cause of the gas leak, while officials also reviewed safety conditions in the area.
