Pakistan welcomes Iran-Israel ceasefire
Pakistan on Tuesday officially welcomed the ceasefire between Iran and Israel, urging both parties to uphold the truce and pursue lasting peace through diplomatic channels.
A statement came from Foreign Office spokesperson Shafqat Ali Khan, who reaffirmed Pakistan’s consistent stance on non-violence and dialogue.
In an statement, the spokesperson said: “Pakistan welcomes the ceasefire between Iran and Israel. We urge both sides to maintain restraint and respect the ceasefire in the larger interest of regional peace and stability.”
He further added that Pakistan supports efforts to revive diplomacy in the region and believes that sustainable peace can only be achieved through dialogue in accordance with the United Nations Charter.
“Peace in the region cannot be achieved through force. It requires commitment to diplomacy, dialogue, and a rules-based international order,” the spokesperson said, adding that Pakistan will continue to support all such efforts.
The statement came hours after US President Donald Trump announced the ceasefire on social media, following a wave of Iranian missile strikes on US bases in Qatar.
