Uzbekistan Airways to begin direct Tashkent-Islamabad flights in May
Uzbekistan Airways has announced the commencement of direct flights between Tashkent and Islamabad starting May 24, marking a major step in strengthening bilateral ties between Uzbekistan and Pakistan.
According to the Uzbek Embassy in Islamabad, the new air link is aimed at enhancing trade, tourism, and people-to-people connectivity.
This initiative stems from collaborative efforts between the Uzbek Embassy and Uzbekistan Airways JSC to deepen cooperation and foster stronger diplomatic and economic relations.
Initially, the airline will operate one flight per week on Saturdays. Talks are currently underway with Pakistan’s Civil Aviation Authority to finalize logistical and regulatory matters.
Depending on passenger demand and operational feasibility, flight frequency may be increased in the future.
Uzbekistan Airways is also planning to expand its services to Karachi, Pakistan’s largest city and commercial hub. Currently, the airline runs bi-weekly flights between Tashkent and Lahore on Wednesdays and Fridays, offering essential air connectivity.
The expansion of Uzbekistan Airways’ flight operations is expected to significantly improve travel convenience and contribute to the growing tourism and economic exchange between the two nations.
