Pakistan, Uzbekistan aim to boost trade to $2 billion

Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev stated that Pakistan and Uzbekistan had reached conclusions on various areas and noted that their mutual trade turnover had surpassed 400 million, with plans to increase it to $2 billion.

The Uzbek president welcomed him warmly, and both countries’ national anthems were played. The prime minister reviewed a guard of honor from the Uzbek armed forces alongside President Mirziyoyev.

Afterward, both leaders introduced their delegations before starting their bilateral meeting.

President Mirziyoyev termed the negotiations between them “very fruitful”, adding that there was a “new direction” for them for future goals.

“The modern state of Pakistan is our trusted partner, trusted by time, and a promising ally whose international reputation is steadily growing.”

He noted that the relations between the two countries had been developing “dynamically”.

“Air travel has been launched between Tashkent and Lahore,” he said and highlighted that both countries agreed to open new routes, including flights between Samarkand, Bukhara and Karachi.

He stated that the intergovernmental commission was working effectively while “political consultations, business events and exhibitions of our national products have been successfully organised”.

“We confirm our shared commitment to strengthening the bonds of longstanding friendship and for the developing cooperation, we have signed important agreements,” the Uzbekistan president stated.

Pakistan, Uzbekistan FMs’ meeting

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar on Wednesday held a “productive” meeting with Foreign Minister of Uzbekistan Bakhtiyor Saidov wherein they discussed the ways to further strengthen bilateral relations.

The meeting was held as Deputy Prime Minister Dar is accompanying Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif during his two-day visit to Uzbekistan.

Both sides discussed deepening cooperation in trade, investment, regional connectivity, and economic development.

Both leaders appreciated the longstanding fraternal ties between Pakistan and Uzbekistan, built on shared history and mutual respect.

They reaffirmed their commitment to expanding collaboration across multiple sectors for shared progress and prosperity.

PM receives guard of honor

Prime Minister Sharif, who arrived on Tuesday for a two-day official visit, is accompanied by several key officials, including Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Muhammad Ishaq Dar.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif arrived in Uzbekistan for a two-day official visit following the completion of his Azerbaijan tour on Tuesday.

Upon arrival in Tashkent, Prime Minister Sharif was warmly received by Uzbek Prime Minister Abdulla Aripov, Foreign Minister Bakhtiyor Saidov, Mayor of Tashkent Shavkat Umurzakov, Uzbekistan’s Ambassador to Pakistan Alisher Takhthaev, and Pakistan’s Ambassador to Uzbekistan Ahmed Farooq, along with senior diplomats and officials.
