PM Shehbaz arrives in Uzbekistan for two-day visit; key agreements expected
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif arrived in Uzbekistan for a two-day official visit following the completion of his Azerbaijan tour.
He is accompanied by Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar, Information Minister Atta Tarar, and Minister for Commerce Jam Kamal.
During his visit, the Prime Minister is expected to hold key meetings and sign multiple agreements to strengthen bilateral ties.
The visit comes at the special invitation of Uzbekistan’s President, Shavkat Mirziyoyev.
Upon arrival in Tashkent, Prime Minister Sharif was warmly received by Uzbek Prime Minister Abdulla Aripov, Foreign Minister Bakhtiyor Saidov, Mayor of Tashkent Shavkat Umurzakov, Uzbekistan’s Ambassador to Pakistan Alisher Takhthaev, and Pakistan’s Ambassador to Uzbekistan Ahmed Farooq, along with senior diplomats and officials.

A ceremonial guard of honour was presented by the Uzbek Armed Forces at Tashkent International Airport in recognition of the Prime Minister’s visit.
PN Sharif visited the Independence Monument in Tashkent, where he laid a floral wreath in honour of Uzbekistan’s rich history and paid tribute to the nation’s great leaders.
He expressed his best wishes for Uzbekistan’s progress and its hardworking people. He was also given a briefing on Uzbekistan’s 3,000-year-old historical legacy, showcased through intricate carvings at the monument.
Key agreements
According to an official statement, PM Sharif will hold a one-on-one meeting with President Mirziyoyev to discuss enhancing cooperation in trade, investment, energy, defence, regional stability, and education.
The two leaders will also exchange views on global and regional matters of mutual interest. Following their discussions, both countries are expected to sign several memorandums of understanding (MoUs) and agreements to bolster bilateral collaboration.
To promote trade and investment between the two nations, a Pakistan-Uzbekistan Business Forum will be held in Tashkent.
The prime minister will address the forum, emphasising economic opportunities and collaboration between the business communities of both countries.
Additionally, PM Sharif will visit the Techno-Park in Tashkent to observe Uzbekistan’s advancements in the construction industry and explore potential areas of cooperation.
The prime minister’s delegation includes Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Commerce Minister Jam Kamal Khan, Investment and Privatisation Minister Abdul Aleem Khan, Information Minister Atta Tarar, and Special Assistant Tariq Fatemi.
Before departing for Uzbekistan, PM Shehbaz concluded his two-day visit to Azerbaijan.
He was seen off at Baku International Airport by Azerbaijan’s First Deputy Prime Minister Yagub Eyyubov, Deputy Foreign Minister Yalchin Rafiyev, Azerbaijan’s Ambassador to Pakistan Khazar Farhadov, and Pakistan’s Ambassador to Azerbaijan Qasim Mohiuddin, along with senior diplomatic and government officials.
