Due to the new tariffs imposed by U.S. President Donald Trump on China, a significant change in global trade is expected, with consumers potentially facing a substantial increase in the prices of valuable items, especially iPhones.

Experts say that if Apple decides to pass the tariff burden onto consumers, the prices of iPhones could increase by 30 to 40 percent.

Most of Apple’s iPhones are manufactured in China, where a 54% tariff has now been imposed, leaving Apple in a delicate position: either absorb the costs themselves or increase prices.

According to analysts at Rosenblatt Securities, if the tariff burden is passed on to consumers, the base model of the iPhone 16, which was previously priced at $799, could rise by 43%, bringing its cost to around $1,142. Similarly, the iPhone 16 Pro Max, which is currently priced at $1,599, could increase by 43%, reaching nearly $2,300—making it comparable in price to foldable phones like the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold.

Analysts suggest that Apple is facing an additional tariff cost of approximately $39.5 billion, which may prompt the company to raise the prices of its other products as well.

Reports indicate that the prices of Apple Watches could increase by 43%, iPads by 42%, and AirPods and Mac computers by up to 39%.

The news of these potential price hikes immediately impacted Apple’s financial position. On Thursday, the company’s stock price dropped by 9.3%, marking the largest single-day decline since March 2020.

Apple sells over 220 million iPhones annually and now faces significant challenges in major markets such as the U.S., China, and Europe. Experts suggest that if prices increase to such an extent, consumer interest could be affected, which may negatively impact Apple’s sales.
