The Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has directed the immediate blocking of passports for individuals who have been deported.

A crucial meeting was held at the Directorate of Immigration and Passports (DGI&P) under the chairmanship of the Interior Minister, where it was decided that the passports of deported Pakistanis would be immediately blocked.

The meeting was attended by Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry, Interior Secretary, and the Director General of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA).

During the session, DGI&P Director General Mustafa Jamal Kazi briefed the participants on the latest developments.

As part of the reforms, Kazi informed the meeting that a mobile app would soon be launched to facilitate citizens in managing their passport-related tasks.

Minister Naqvi emphasized the need to swiftly complete all legal matters concerning the new conditions to curb illegal immigration and prevent begging. He expressed that these steps would also contribute to a more robust immigration system.

Chaudhry remarked that the decision to block passports of deported individuals would send a positive message to the international community, further strengthening Pakistan’s position on immigration.

In addition, Minister Naqvi inspected the newly installed six Machine-Readable Passport (MRP) and two e-passport machines, which are expected to improve the efficiency and capacity of passport services.

The installation was carried out with the assistance of the Pakistan-Germany team, with whom the Minister also held a brief meeting.

The meeting concluded with discussions on various measures aimed at improving services for citizens and ensuring smoother immigration processes moving forward.
