Interior Minister Syed Mohsin Naqvi has instructed the start of new B forms featuring advanced security measures for children aged 10 and above. The issuance of these forms will begin in phases starting January 15.

The updated B forms will include thumb impressions and photographs of the children, which the minister believes will help prevent the misuse of children’s identity marks. Naqvi emphasized that this initiative is part of the government’s broader strategy to combat human smuggling, particularly in cases where fake identity cards and passports are used to facilitate illegal journeys to Europe.

“I congratulate the NADRA chairman, DG Passport, and their team for implementing these reforms in such a short time,” Naqvi stated.

According to a spokesman for the Interior Ministry, the first phase will involve the collection of thumb impressions and photographs of children aged 10 to 18 at NADRA centers, starting January 15. It will be mandatory for these minors to be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian, who must provide their computerized national identity cards and the computerized birth certificates of their children, issued by a union council or town committee.

Furthermore, the spokesman noted that children will be required to present these new forms when applying for a passport. The Directorate General of Immigration and Passports will then verify the children’s thumb impressions and photographs against NADRA’s database.
