The Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission (Suparco) has predicted on Wednesday that Eid-ul-Fitr is likely to be celebrated on Monday, March 31.

This prediction regarding the visibility of the Shawwal 1446 AH Crescent is based on scientific assessments, astronomical calculations, and modern observational data.

In a statement, SUPARCO stated that “given these scientific parameters, the likelihood of moon sighting on 30 March 2025 in Pakistan is very bright.”

“Consequently, Ramazan is expected to complete 29 days, and the first day of Eid-ul-Fitr will likely be observed on 31 March 2025,”

“In this regard, the crescent is expected to be visible on March 30, 2025 in Saudi Arabia and the Middle East, and they would also likely celebrate Eid on March 31, 2025,” it added.

The Central Ruet-i-Hilal Committee, along with regional committees, will meet on the evening of March 30 (Sunday) to look for the Shawwal moon, which could signify the end of Ramazan.

The federal government has approved a three-day public holiday for Eid al-Fitr.

According to a notification from the Cabinet Division, the holidays will take place from Monday, March 31, to Wednesday, April 2.

The Pakistan Meteorological Department has indicated that there is a strong possibility of sighting the new moon of Shawwal 1446 AH that evening.

Eid-ul-Fitr is an important festival in the Islamic lunar calendar, celebrated at the conclusion of Ramazan, a month during which Muslims worldwide fast. The Eid celebrations mark the conclusion of this period of self-discipline.
