Met Office predicts Eid al-Fitr date in Pakistan
The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has predicted that Eid al-Fitr is likely to be observed on March 31, as the Shawwal moon is expected to be born on March 29 at 3:58pm.
According to PMD focal person Anjum Nazir, the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee will meet on March 30 to sight the moon, which will be 27 hours old by then and easily visible.
He stated that the time gap between sunset and moonset will be approximately one hour, increasing the likelihood of moon sighting.
Anjum Nazir further explained that if the moon is sighted on March 30, then the first day of Shawwal will fall on March 31.
