Pakistan announces holidays for Eid al-Fitr
The federal government has approved a three-day public holiday for Eid al-Fitr.
According to a notification from the Cabinet Division, the holidays will take place from Monday, March 31, to Wednesday, April 2.
The Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee, along with its zonal committees, will meet on Sunday evening, March 30, 2025 (corresponding to Ramazan 29, 1446 AH), to see the Shawwal moon, which will show the potential end of Ramadan.
The moonsighting committee will convene at the Ministry of Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony.

During the meeting, religious scholars, meteorological experts, and other stakeholders will discuss moon sighting reports from around the country to establish the date for Eid ul-Fitr celebrations in Pakistan.
The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) predicted that Eid al-Fitr is likely to be observed on March 31, as the Shawwal moon is expected to be born on March 29 at 3:58pm.
Eid al-Fitr can likely bring a long nine-day holiday period for people in Pakistan, reports predicted on March 7.
The UAE government confirmed that the Eid al-Fitr holiday will begin on Shawwal 1 and conclude on Shawwal 3, 1446 AH, with work resuming on Shawwal 4.
Last year, the government approved a five-day holiday for Eidul Fitr.
