Lahore anti-terrorism court extends Fawad Chaudhry’s bail until April 16
The Lahore Anti-Terrorism Court has granted an extension of interim bail to former Information Minister and PTI leader Fawad Chaudhry until April 16. Chaudhry appeared in court for hearings concerning his bail in five separate cases.
During the proceedings, Fawad’s lawyer requested the court to consolidate the cases, arguing that they all relate to the same incident but are registered under different FIRs.
He informed the court that one of the trials had already begun in Faisalabad and sought additional time for arguments until the High Court rules on their application.
The court noted that if the lawyer opted not to present arguments, he could withdraw the bail. The investigating officer reported that Fawad Chaudhry had cooperated in the investigation and that the inquiry into the cases had been completed.
After the hearing, Fawad Chaudhry addressed the media outside the Anti-Terrorism Court. He referenced a comment made by Ali Amin, questioning the definition of terrorism, while highlighting that most cases in the ATC involve PTI members.
Chaudhry stated that if both the founder of PTI and their members are labeled as terrorists, then the matter is clear.
He pointed out that the party leadership had failed to take steps to unite the people and noted that the founder of PTI had not been summoned, nor had the authentic leadership from Balochistan participated.
