Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) Central Secretary General Salman Akram Raja has said that Pakistan is facing the consequences of decades-old policies.

He claimed that the government believes its supporters will always stand by it and dismissed the current parliament as a product of Form 47.

During his appearance on Aaj TV’s programme “Rubaroo” with host Shaukat Paracha, Salman Akram Raja said that cases related to May 9 are already being heard in anti-terrorism courts, and PTI has demanded a transparent investigation into the events of that day.

He added that if the government were serious about negotiations, the process would have moved forward. Instead, Imran Khan’s meetings are restricted to family members, and scheduled visits with party leaders are not being allowed.

He also revealed that Imran Khan himself declined to meet Sheer Afzal Marwat.

Salman Akram Raja further asserted that PTI does not need any external support, claiming that people in Sindh are waiting for a strong national party to emerge.

He dismissed the current government as powerless, saying it only survives due to backing from powerful quarters.

Commenting on the expansion of the federal cabinet, he remarked that only weak governments resort to such moves.

He also criticised the newly inducted ministers, stating that reading their names was an embarrassing experience.

PTI lacks the strength to lead people

Meanwhile, PTI Member of National Assembly (MNA) Sheer Afzal Marwat condemned the continued wave of terrorism in the country despite multiple military operations.

He specifically denounced the attack on Maulana Hamidul Haq, saying that the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa are living in fear.

Marwat also disclosed that he has not yet met Imran Khan, adding that certain elements within PTI are deliberately creating obstacles. He stated that he has decided to step back from PTI’s political activities for three months, dismissing speculations about his future role.

The PTI MNA said that he has been repeatedly targeted with statements, yet he is expected to remain silent.

He added that while Imran Khan had advised party leaders to avoid criticizing colleagues, he made it clear that he would not remain quiet if attacked.

Marwat expressed confidence that if Imran Khan hears his perspective, he may reconsider some of his decisions.

He insisted that his meeting with Imran Khan would only take place if internal hurdles were removed.

Discussing the political landscape, Marwat dismissed the idea that MQM or PPP would challenge the government, criticising the 26th Constitutional Amendment for allegedly weakening the rule of law.

He also made it clear that he would not be a “guest participant” in any movement, highlighting that he has been mistreated within PTI.

He urged Imran Khan to investigate the matter, noting that several key party figures, including Ali Amin Gandapur, are no longer favored within PTI’s leadership circles.

Concluding his remarks, Marwat expressed strong doubts over PTI’s ability to mobilise the public, stating that Imran Khan is being kept in the dark about internal matters.

He firmly declared that Salman Akram Raja would not succeed in leading a political movement, as the party itself is in disarray.
