Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Secretary-General and prominent lawyer Salman Akram Raja has clarified the reason behind Sher Afzal Marwat’s expulsion from the party.

Speaking to the media in Peshawar, Raja stated that the decision to remove Marwat was made by PTI founder Imran Khan, and any decision to reinstate him would also rest solely with Khan.

“If Sher Afzal Marwat wants to debate or criticize, he should do so with Imran Khan,” Raja remarked.

He further explained that Marwat failed to adhere to party policies, and multiple complaints were filed against him by other senior PTI members.

Addressing the government’s stance, Raja criticised its inability to facilitate even a single meeting with Imran Khan.

“What negotiations can we have with a government that cannot even arrange a meeting with our leader?” he questioned.

Regarding Khan’s recent letter, Raja clarified that it was not solely addressed to the Army Chief but was an open letter intended for every citizen.

“The letter was written to put an end to oppression and fascism. It has reached those who needed to read it,” he asserted.

Earlier, while speaking at the Peshawar High Court, Raja reiterated PTI’s commitment to democracy.

“We are engaged in a historic struggle and will go as far as necessary. I am in Peshawar to meet some senior party leaders to discuss our future course of action as Ramadan approaches. However, some activities will take place even before Ramadan,” he said.

Raja also addressed Marwat’s allegations and revealed that he had meetings scheduled with Shahid Khaqan Abbasi and various political groups in Karachi.

“We are launching a nationwide movement and will not stop. Even during Ramadan, we have options to continue our efforts,” he said.

He also commented on PTI’s internal affairs, mentioning that Junaid Akbar was investigating the low turnout at the Swabi rally.

“We are moving forward for our imprisoned leaders, including Imran Khan,” he stated, adding that he supports the decision to remove Ali Amin Gandapur from his position as PTI’s provincial president.
