New information into the Mustafa murder case investigation revealed “shocking” details on Saturday as an anti-terrorism court in Karachi extended the physical remand of suspects Armaghan and Sheraz by five days.

Footage obtained through sources within police has revealed that parties were held at the prime suspect’s house in the city’s DHA area, where drug use was allegedly rampant.

Amir, a Karachi resident, went missing on January 6, according to the police. His charred body was found in a car in Balochistan, they told reporters in a press conference on February 14. Police added that they got to know about the murder after a suspect made a shocking confession to them during the investigation.

As the story unfolded, investigators said last week that the conflict leading to the missing person’s death arose from a dispute involving a girl. The prime suspect and victim were childhood friends, another suspect, was quoted as saying in the interrogation report.

The videos depict “young boys and girls partying with Armaghan, who could also be seen using drugs in a vehicle.” Three lion cubs kept as pets by the prime suspect were visible in the clips.

Earlier in the day, an anti-terrorism court in Karachi extended the physical remand of the two suspects five days. Investigation Officer Muhammad Ali had requested a 14-day physical remand for both suspects, arguing that the statements of two employees of the prime suspect have yet to be recorded.

The officer further stated that firearms and a laptop reportedly seized from Armaghan’s residence, would be sent for forensic examination.

While officer Ali sought an extended remand of 14 days, the court ultimately granted a five-day extension for the physical remand of both suspects.

Investigation into money laundering claims

The investigation officer also informed the court that further interrogation was needed as the prime suspect has been absconding in several cases registered at Boat Basin, Clifton, Darakhshan, and Sahil police stations.

He claimed that Armaghan operated an illegal call centre and a warehouse. “There is also a need to identify Armaghan’s other associates, such as Nauman. Investigations related to money laundering involving Armaghan has to be conducted.”

It has been revealed that the prime suspect was involved in the money laundering, a Federal Investigation Agency official said and added that a case would registered after seeing the evidence.

Furthermore, the FIA’s Cyber Crime Wing would assist in the Anti Violent Crime Cell investigation concerning an “illegal call centre and software house” operating from the residence.

According to the FIA official, they would also support the police in decoding laptops found at Armaghan’s house and accessing other digital evidence.

Four arrested, including a famous actor’s son

Meanwhile, police have claimed to have arrested four persons, including the son of renowned TV actor Sajid Hasan, during raids aimed at combating drug sales, purchases, and use.

Drugs were allegedly recovered from the actor’s son.

Senior police officials stated that inquiries were under way regarding both the suspects. They claimed that the actor’s family has been informed about the situation and a large-scale operation against drugs has been initiated.

DNA test results

Meanwhile, sources told Aaj News that the initial DNA testing of the samples taken from the body “confirmed that the person burned alive in Balochistan’s Dureji was indeed Mustafa Amir.”

Samples of the mutilated remains were sent to the University of Karachi’s lab, where they matched the DNA of Mustafa Amir’s mother.

The three-member medical team comprising Dr Summaiya Syed, Dr Seri Chand, and Dr Kamran Khan arrived in Karachi on Friday and exhumed the Mustafa murder case victim’s body in Edhi Moach Goth cemetery.

In a letter to the Edhi Foundation, the judicial magistrate (West) said: “The body will remain in the Edhi mortuary until the DNA report is received. If the report is positive, the body will be returned to the family members.”
