Kidnapped Khuzdar woman family’s sit-in on Quetta-Karachi highway enters second day
The kidnapped Khuzdar woman’s family’s sit-in on the Quetta-Karachi highway entered on the second day on Friday, blocking the key road between the two cities until fulfilment of demands.
A significant number of women are also participating in the protests.
Around a dozen armed men scaled the walls of Inayatullah’s home, where they assaulted the family and abducted his daughter, Aasma, on Thursday night in the upscale area of Shazad City, adjacent to the N-25 highway in Khuzdar.
The victim’s family members have blocked the N-25 highway at two locations: the Jhalawan Vegetable Market and the Zero Point area.
Khuzdar police, led by SSP Javed Zahri, has claimed to have made multiple attempts to negotiate with the demonstrators, however, such negotiations were unsuccessful.
Family members participating in the protest have stated that they would continue their demonstration until the 27-year-old girl is recovered. They have threatened to maintain their blockade of the road until their demands are met.
The protesters have identified the alleged abductors and claimed that they were backed by “influential figures.” They also expressed strong criticism of the Khuzdar police and local administration, pointing out that two days have passed and the girl has still not been found, which they described as a concerning situation for their family.
