Mexican actress Marcela Alcazar Rodriguez dies after consuming frog venom in ritual
Mexican actress Marcela Alcazar Rodriguez, 33, tragically passed away after partaking in a spiritual cleansing ritual in Mexico that involved consuming a poisonous drink known as “Kambo.”
This traditional South American practice utilizes Amazonian frog venom, which is believed to detoxify the body but can lead to severe reactions such as vomiting and diarrhea.
Reports indicate that Rodriguez experienced severe symptoms following the consumption of the venom. Initially reluctant to seek medical assistance, she eventually agreed to help as her condition deteriorated. She was rushed to a Red Cross hospital but sadly succumbed to the effects of the venom.
Witnesses stated that a shaman overseeing the retreat in Moyocoyani, Durango, told Rodriguez she could not leave, and the shaman reportedly fled when her health worsened.
