Three men lost their lives when two light aircraft collided midair and crashed into a forested area southwest of Sydney on Saturday.

Emergency services, including police, fire, and ambulance crews, responded to the incident, which occurred approximately 55 miles from the city.

According to New South Wales Police Acting Superintendent Timothy Calman, a Cessna 182 with two occupants collided with an ultralight aircraft carrying one person.

One of the planes caught fire upon impact.

Witnesses reported seeing debris falling from the sky and attempted to assist, but the situation was dire, and there was little they could do to help, as both crashes were deemed “not survivable.”
