Following the incident, the dispatch of aid convoys to Kurram district was suspended

Authorities in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have identified the perpetrators behind an attack on Deputy Commissioner Javaidullah Mahsud’s vehicle in the Bignan area of Lower Kurram. According to reports, five individuals, including facilitators, are implicated and will face arrest and prosecution.

A high-level security meeting, chaired by the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, will be held in Kohat on Sunday. The Regional Police Officer (RPO) and District Police Officer (DPO) will also participate. The Chief Secretary of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Nadeem Aslam Chaudhry, will also visit Kohat today and will seek the cooperation of local residents and tribal elders in apprehending the suspects.

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has condemned the attack, which occurred on Saturday, as a violation of a peace agreement. Following the incident, a high-level emergency meeting chaired by Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur reviewed the situation. The attack resulted in injuries to seven people, including Deputy Commissioner Mahsud.

Following the incident, the dispatch of aid convoys to Kurram district was suspended. Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi stated that the firing on government vehicles in Lower Kurram is a conspiracy to sabotage the peace agreement.

The provincial government’s meeting concluded that the local population is responsible for violating the agreement and that all those involved will be brought to justice. A decision was also made to place bounties on the heads of the terrorists and to show no leniency towards either the perpetrators or their accomplices.
