Paraglider spots dog on top of Great Pyramid of Giza
A paraglider soaring over Egypt’s Great Pyramid of Giza captured a surprising moment: a dog sitting atop the ancient monument.
The footage, which has since gone viral on social media, shows Marshall Mosher gliding through the desert when he zoomed in to discover the dog barking at the peak of the pyramid.
“A dog climbed all the way up the Great Pyramid of Giza!” Mosher exclaimed in an Instagram post.
Commenters humorously speculated that the creature might not be a dog at all, but rather Anubis, the Egyptian god of the underworld, often depicted with a canine head.
The development also sparked a flurry of jokes and comments online. Some commenters humorously suggested that if the dog marked its territory, the pyramid now belonged to it. “None of his friends are gonna believe him,” one user quipped.
While many viewers expressed concern for the dog, which appeared to be barking in distress, Mosher later shared a follow-up video showing him with the dog on the ground, providing more context.
In the video, Mosher stood with the dog and one of his companions in front of the pyramids, explaining that the dogs often roam the area and frequently climb the 454-foot structure.
A mega-museum project near the Giza Pyramids has cost over $1 billion and has been under construction for more than a decade. Although the official opening date has been delayed multiple times due to various factors, including the Covid-19 pandemic, limited tours have been available since 2022.
